SPRING 2014

A Message from Jim Ward 2014

ISA Certified Arborist PD-53

As we begin our 57th year in business, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our customer, for your continued business and loyalty. We continually strive to improve our company so that we can deliver the highest level of professional services for your trees and shrubs.

Plant Health Care continues to evolve quickly. There have been significant developments with new and safer products and methods to treat tree and shrub insects and diseases. New and improved fertilizers and soil conditioners are being introduced, and we are especially pleased with results we are experiencing using a soil compost we found in Lancaster County. We are constantly monitoring the products available to make sure we are providing the safest and most effective products to you,
our client.

We are pleased to be sponsoring a “Preserving the Tree Canopy” conference at Haverford College in March. This seminar is being held in conjunction with Morris Arboretum, and will feature speakers
from Morton Arboretum in Illinois, and Penn State University. This conference will provide a unique opportunity to exchange information with some of the most highly respected arborists and researchers.

We begin 2014 with great enthusiasm for many reasons. Our safety and training committee, headed by Jim Roach, has led staff meetings every Friday morning for over three years. We anticipate ISA
Certified Arborists Alex Roberts and Tadd Leyman will join Jim as Certified Tree Care Safety Professionals this year. Ken LeRoy will continue to lecture at Morris Arboretum. Finally, we will be launching a new website in May that will contain a section of links that we hope will be a helpful resource to you. You can find us at www.johnbward.com.

On behalf of our family and employees, we thank you for your continued confidence in allowing us to care for your valuable trees and shrubs.
