Willow
Salix
Willows, also called sallows and osiers, of the genus Salix, comprise around 350 species (plus numerous hybrids) of typically deciduous trees and shrubs, found primarily on moist soils in cold and temperate regions.
Most species are known as willow, but some narrow-leaved shrub species are called osier, and some broader-leaved species are referred to as sallow (from Old English sealh, related to the Latin word salix, willow).
Some willows (particularly arctic and alpine species) are low-growing or creeping shrubs; for example, the dwarf willow (Salix herbacea) rarely exceeds 6 centimetres (2+1⁄2 in) in height, though it spreads widely across the ground.

Willow Scab
Willow scab, caused by the fungus Venturia saliciperda, affects Salix species throughout Europe and the eastern United States.

Black Canker
Black canker of willow (Salix spp.) is caused by the fungus Glomerella miyabeana (Glomerellaceae). In North America and Europe, the black canker pathogen is consistently associated with the willow scab fungus (Venturiaceae: Venturia saliciperda) and together they combine to produce a serious disease of willow known as “willow blight”.

Spotted Lantern Fly
Lycorma delicatula, commonly known as the Spotted Lanternfly (SLF), is a new invasive insect that has spread throughout southeastern Pennsylvania since its discovery in Berks County in 2014. SLF presents a significant threat to Pennsylvania agriculture, including the grape, tree-fruit, hardwood and nursery industries, which collectively are worth nearly $18 billion to the state’s economy.
Southern Red Mite
The female adult is about 0.38 mm long and resembles a small spider.
