Tree Pruning

ISA Certified Arborist PD-1673

Pruning maintains the health of trees.

We are fortunate to operate our family tree care business in Philadelphia’s Main Line community. There is incredible horticultural history in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.

From John Bartram’s garden, established in 1728; to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, founded in 1827; to the Centennial celebration and construction of Horticultural Hall in 1876, the Philadelphia area has been home to a deep interest in horticulture. This appreciation and respect for trees and landscaping has been passed down from one generation of Philadelphians to the next.

John B. Ward Team getting ready to prune and cable one of the largest American Linden trees on the Main Line. We prune the tree every three years and check the cables and rods installed to preserve the tree.

When our father, John B., graduated from Penn State University in 1954 with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture, the local tree industry was made up of small family businesses. Everyone knew each other and worked together to elevate our profession and perform great work.

We are thankful to be able to continue our family business. It is ingrained in the culture of our company that we do great work every day. We love to prune trees and work closely with our team of arborists to execute the pruning plans we develop with you. We are proud to be craftsmen and craftswomen with the skill and experience to properly prune the tallest white oak and tulip poplar trees as well as ornamental trees such as crabapples, magnolias, cherry trees, and hollies. Whether we’re hand-pruning ornamentals or climbing trees with ropes and saddles, we focus our energy to correctly prune one tree at a time. Our company signature is written on each tree we prune and each client we visit.
