John B. Ward & Company, a steward of the Main Line’s urban forest since 1957, continues to strengthen its roots in the local community — not just through professional arboriculture but also through meaningful volunteerism and service.
Recently, the company donated our employees’ time and expertise to perform a tree removal for the Paoli Memorial Association, helping preserve safety and aesthetics on the historic Paoli Memorial Grounds. This generous contribution supported the Association’s mission to maintain the site as a place of remembrance and community use.
In addition to performing tree project work,
John B. Ward team members are leading a Forestry Merit Badge program for Malvern Boy Scout Troop 7, teaching scouts about tree biology, forest ecology, and sustainable practices. These hands-on sessions will give young leaders a chance to connect with nature and advance their scouting achievements — an investment
in both education and environmental stewardship.
A Place of Remembrance: Paoli Memorial Association was established in 1896 to care for the gravesites and memorials honoring the 53 Continental soldiers killed in the Battle of Paoli during the
American Revolutionary War.
On the western edge of the Paoli Memorial Grounds, The Malvern Memorial Cabin has hosted multiple scouting units and community events.
Chartered in 1916, one of Chester County’s oldest
Boy Scout troops Malvern Troop 7 continues developing leadership and outdoor skills from the
cabin and parkland.
Through partnerships like these, John B. Ward & Company not only cares for trees but also helps cultivate community history and youth education, growing a legacy that extends well beyond the canopy.
